.  BIOGRAPHY.   .  Born in TA 2995, Éowyn was the second child of Éomund, Chief Marshal of the Mark of Rohan, and Théodwyn, King Théoden's youngest sister. Growing up, Éowyn enjoyed many of her mother's stories, especially those about the Shieldmaidens of Rohan, warrior women who once rode to battle alongside the Rohirrim. Such stories inspired her to learn martial skills from an early age, such as swordplay and mounted combat.Apart from learning the way of the sword alongside her brother, Éowyn had a relatively ordinary childhood until TA 3002, when her father perished fighting a band of orcs. Her mother fell ill with grief and died soon after, leaving Éowyn and her brother Éomer bereft of parentage. She was only seven years old at the time, Éomer only eleven.After their parents' deaths, Théoden took Éomer and Éowyn into his home at Meduseld in Edoras and raised them as siblings to his own son, Théodred. As a result, Éowyn grew to love and respect him as she would a father, and he in turn felt as though she was a daughter to him. Her feelings towards Théodred were likewise more akin to love of a close brother than that of a distant cousin.Over the years, Éowyn learned many things from many skilled tutors, all while continuing her combat training alongside her brother and cousin—but she was continually denied a position amongst the Rohirrim. Though she was certainly skilled enough to join their ranks, both her uncle and her brother discouraged her from pursuing a life of martial deeds, preferring her to take up some other, safer role of leadership in Rohan.Several years prior to the War of the Ring, King Théoden appeared to fall ill, growing more lethargic and paranoid as time went on. Under the combined influence of Saruman the wizard and Gríma Wormtongue, the latter of whom was constantly at Théoden's ear, the king was severely weakened. There was little Éowyn could do but try and care for her uncle to the best of her abilities, though her efforts always felt woefully short of a cure for his ailments. In fact, he seemed only to keep growing worse. Under such circumstances, she fell swiftly into a deep depression with little hope for the future of her people—or that of herself.Then came the War of the Ring, its herald taking the form of Gandalf the White, who arrived in Rohan with his three companions to challenge Saruman's hold over Théoden.(more tba!)

Under such circumstances, she fell swiftly into a deep depression with little hope for the future of her people—or that of herself.In 9:30 Dragon, when King Cailan called for any able-bodied soldiers to attend the battle at Ostagar, Éomer and Théodred each led a squad of Rohirrim soldiers to his aid. During the aftermath of Loghain quitting the field, Éomer and a few of his men were able to find the badly wounded Théodred amongst the carnage. Somehow, they manage to get him home to Edoras alive. However, not long after their return, Théodred tragically died of his wounds, his own father too ill of body and mind to even realize it.Nary a week passed before word reached Edoras that Arl Eamon of Redcliffe had fallen ill and his Arling was in trouble. Being longstanding allies with the Arling of Redcliffe, Éomer and Éowyn persuaded Théoden to send a squad of Rohirrim to the aid of Eamon and his people. Éomer was to lead them while Éowyn traveled north for safety from the encroaching hoard.However, rather than traveling north for safety from the blight as Théoden and Éomer bade her, Éowyn instead disguised herself as a soldier of Rohan and rode with her brother to Redcliffe. For almost a week, she fought valiantly with the other men to defend the citizens of Redcliffe Village against the creatures attacking each night from the castle, until finally the Warden arrived.Unbeknownst to Éowyn, there was a streak of latent magic in her blood, and it would come out of hiding during the Fifth Blight. She would become a Spirit Warrior almost by accident, through channeling her magic to retrieve her weapon mid-fight. From then on she would discover new abilities almost every day.

.  INVOLVEMENT: ORIGINS.   .  Éowyn becomes a recruitable companion for the Warden following the battle with the undead in Redcliffe Village. She will approach the Warden and attempt to join their group, introducing herself as Dernhelm and putting on a somewhat deeper voice. If rejected, she will follow after them when they leave Redcliffe and insist on joining them again after assisting in a short skirmish with Darkspawn.(A Cousland Warden may choose to recognize her at this point, as her helmet is removed during the fight and they both come from well-known noble families.)Recruiting Éowyn into the party gains the Warden some access to resources through the Rohirrim, along with Éowyn’s own skill as a sword and shield warrior. It also gains them the use of Éowyn's horse, Windfola, to carry items and/or injured party members.Regardless of the Warden's choices during the game, Éowyn will end up at the final battle in Denerim. She is badly wounded in a fight with a Hurlock Alpha and found by her brother, Éomer, after the battle is over. It takes her some weeks to recover, and she's never quite the same.Though she's not aware of it until much later, Éowyn actually perished during the final battle in Denerim, and was revived by a spirit of Courage that had followed her steps since childhood. The spirit joined with her to save her life, much like Wynne was revived by a spirit of Faith.Théoden, however, does not survive the final battle, and Éomer returns to take up the Arling of Rohan while Éowyn is still recovering from her wounds..  COMPANION QUEST: ORIGINS.   .  If recruited by the Warden, Éowyn’s personal quest involves a return to Edoras to save Théoden sometime during the Blight. It is triggered when the Warden completes the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest. Because the party is only permitted to take one pinch of the ashes and not the two she’d hoped for, Éowyn has to find another way to save her uncle.While traveling away from Haven and the Temple of Sacred Ashes, the party will have a random encounter with four people: An elf, a dwarf, and two humans—introduced as Legolas, Gimli, Gandalf, and Aragorn. Gandalf claims they have been turned away from Edoras, and sought Éowyn out for her help sneaking in to see Arl Théoden.Through conversation, it is revealed that Gandalf is a mage whose power rivals that of Saruman, whom he believes has cast a spell of blood magic over Théoden's mind, making him weak and paranoid. He determines that Gríma refused them entry to Meduseld because he knew it was within Gandalf's power to undo this magic.Feeling a small swell of hope, Éowyn will agree to go with them and help them get inside immediately, telling the Warden she must go. At this point, the Warden has the option of offering to go with them. If they choose to let her go alone, she will not return except as a regular NPC during the final battle in Denerim.If they choose to go to Edoras with her, Éowyn will remain with the party after saving Théoden, and Théoden will pledge the Rohirrim to the Warden's cause of ending the Blight. This makes them available to be called upon by the Warden to assist in a fight during the final battle (similar to the dwarves/golems, Dalish/werewolves, mages/Templars, and soldiers of Redcliffe).Upon arriving in Edoras, Éowyn will sneak the Warden and co. into Meduseld through the stables, using her own face as cover for those who are less familiar. No one questions why the White Lady of Rohan is entertaining visitors in the stables—horses are all but sacred to the Rohirrim, after all. Once inside, the party must make their way to the main hall, at which point Gandalf will confront Théoden and undo Saruman's hold over him.Gríma expectedly flees from the hall at Théoden's wrath, and Éowyn herself gives chase, calling for the Warden to help her pursuit. When they find her, she is holding Gríma at swordpoint, having disarmed him prior to the Warden's appearance. At this point, the Warden can allow Éowyn to kill Gríma without interference (hardening her), or try to persuade her to spare his life (softening her on success)..  INVOLVEMENT: AWAKENING.   .  Some months after the final battle, once her wounds have fully healed, Éowyn travels to Amaranthine to rejoin the Warden. While she does not become a Grey Warden herself, she does find other ways to help the Warden rebuild the order, in exchange for Anders teaching her how to use her magic for healing. She also spends this time honing her skills as a Spirit Warrior/Eldritch Knight.Éowyn participates in the battle to protect Amaranthine or Vigil's Keep, depending on the Warden's choices. After that, she is called back to Rohan by her brother to assist efforts to rebuild her homeland since the ravages of the Fifth Blight..  INVOLVEMENT: DRAGON AGE 2.   .  Once returned to Rohan, Éowyn advocates for sending what aid they can to Kirkwall, ultimately deciding to travel there herself with a small contingency of Rohan's soldiers and healers—those who were not already preoccupied rebuilding the parts of Rohan that were impacted by the Blight. Arl Théoden had an estate in Hightown which Éomer inherited, and that is where she stays. However, she travels almost daily to the undercity where most Fereldan refugees have gathered. It is there that she inevitably runs into Anders, whom she resolves herself to assist directly now that she has developed her own healing skills.Through Anders, Éowyn meets Hawke and the rest of their gang. After they help her to rescue a group of Fereldan refugees being hassled by a local mercenary group, she offers to repay the debt by helping Hawke with anything they might need. If Hawke accepts, Éowyn becomes a proper companion. If rejected, she will remain in Kirkwall to do her own work, but she will not be accessible to Hawke as a party member..  INVOLVEMENT: INQUISITION.   .  Éowyn becomes a recruitable companion during Inquisition, once the Herald first accesses the Hinterlands. She can be found among the wounded with Mother Giselle doing her best to help heal people who've been caught in the crossfire of the Mage/Templar War.

.  BIOGRAPHY.   .  Born in the Kingdom of Rohan, Éowyn was the second child of Éomund, Chief Marshal of the Mark of Rohan, and Théodwyn, King Théoden's youngest sister. Growing up, Éowyn enjoyed many of her mother's stories, especially those about the Shieldmaidens of Rohan, warrior women who once rode to battle alongside the men of the Rohirrim. Such stories inspired her to learn martial skills from an early age, such as swordplay and mounted combat.Apart from learning the way of the sword alongside her brother, Éowyn had a relatively ordinary childhood until her father perished fighting a band of orcs. Her mother fell ill with grief and died soon after, leaving Éowyn and her brother Éomer bereft of parentage. She was only seven years old at the time, Éomer only eleven.After their parents' deaths, Théoden took Éomer and Éowyn into his home at Meduseld in Edoras, the capital of Rohan, and raised them as siblings to his own son, Théodred. As a result, Éowyn grew to love and respect him as she would a father, and he in turn felt as though she was a daughter to him. Her feelings towards Théodred were likewise more akin to love of a close brother than that of a distant cousin.Over the years, Éowyn learned many things from many skilled tutors, all while continuing her combat training alongside her brother and cousin—but she was continually denied a position amongst the Rohirrim.Though she was certainly skilled en ough to join their ranks, both her uncle and her brother discouraged her from pursuing a life of martial deeds, preferring her to take up some other, safer role of leadership in Rohan.

Several years prior to Éowyn striking out on her own adventure, King Théoden appeared to fall ill, growing more lethargic and paranoid as time went on. Under the combined influence of Saruman the wizard and his now-minion Gríma Wormtongue, the latter of whom was constantly at Théoden's ear, the king was severely weakened. There was little Éowyn could do but try and care for her uncle to the best of her abilities, though her efforts always fell woefully short of a cure for his ailments. In fact, he seemed only to keep growing worse. Under such circumstances, she fell swiftly into a deep depression with little hope for the future of her people—or that of herself.Then came the revelation of Gríma's betrayal to Éowyn in secret, after he had already banished Éomer from the Kingdom of Rohan. Determined to find her brother—as well as a cure for Théoden's apparent curse—Éowyn struck out on a journey from whence she could not be sure if she would return.
